Promoting novelty in vision: inhibition of return modulates perceptual-level processing
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze perceptual effects in inhibition of return (IOR), a selection inhibition in processing. The signal detection measure was utilized to carry out the analysis. Results indicated that target discriminations are less accurate at cued than uncued locations when visual attention is reflexively oriented to nonfoveal cues. Findings also showed that the effects of IOR on response accuracy were independent on the speed of responding.

Nature and dynamics of reference frames in visual search for orientation: implications for early visual processing
Article Abstract:
It is believed that early low-level vision processes exist which feature local operations governing the visual field code in parallel basic features, such as color, orientation, length, line termination, curvature and luminance. Experimental data suggests that these processes encode visual input in retinotopic maps. The nature of the spatial reference frame used by early vision involved in identification is investigated.
