Communication patterns and alliances between parents and adolescents during a structured problem-solving task
Article Abstract:
The communication patterns during structured problem-solving are influenced by the gender of both the adolescents and their parents. Daughters tend to form alliances with their fathers or none at all, whereas sons make offers for alliance to mothers at twice the rate that daughters do. Fathers and mothers form almost equal two-way alliances in families with daughters, and families with sons. Fathers are relatively unaffected by adolescent gender. In families with daughters, mothers made a lower ratio of offers to their husbands than in families with sons.

Adolescents' and parents' future beliefs
Article Abstract:
The relationship between adolescents' and parents' future goals and probability estimations along with adolescents' perceived family interaction mediated parents' and adolescents' beliefs are investigated. Result shows that goals were structurally similar but unrelated, suggesting cultural transmission of goals and autonomous goal setting for adolescents, and probability estimations were differently structured, and related suggesting different perceptions of societal constraints and opportunities.

Outlook on life: how adolescents and children view the life-style of parents, adults and self
Article Abstract:
A personality assessment scale, Outlook on Life Scale, identifies the attitudes of adolescents and children towards life. Scales of View of Parents, View of Adults and View of Self correlate positively with emotional status. Results show that subjects' positive views of their parents, adults, and their own life correlates with a positive attitude toward life. Youngsters are more prone towards a fixed orientation to life, which can have a lasting impact on future development.
