Pseudohomophone effects and phonological recoding procedures in reading development in English and German
Article Abstract:
Children learning to read English and German showed differing results when exposed to nonwords that sound close to actual words. Naming produced significant pseudohomophone effects in English but not German, while the same effects appeared during lexical decision in German but not in English.

Computation of semantic number from morphological information
Article Abstract:
Three experiments examine the computation of semantic number for singulars and plurals from the morphological properties of visually presented words. The studies show that semantic number is automatically computed by the grammar on-line from morphological inflections.
