Psychological characteristics of juvenile alcohol and drug users
Article Abstract:
Adolescents who use illicit drugs have a lower score on the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) lie score and the Gough Socialisation Scale than those who do not use drugs. A study conducted on 108 convicted offenders shows that the drug users have a higher score on the addiction scales of EPQ. However, there is no difference between the drug users and non-users on the EPQ psychoticism and neuroticism scales. The results obtained for alcohol users are similar, though less marked than those for the drug users.

Identity, regression and development
Article Abstract:
Regression is an important and adaptive feature of adolescent development. Two identity and ego development models explain the dimensions of regressive behavior that occurs in adolescence due to structural transformation. Progressive and regressive development can be measured better by an analysis of intraindividual change over time. Identity status and ego development literature identify three forms of structural regression involving a different developmental trajectory triggered by varied circumstances.
