Reading disabilities with and without behaviour problems at 7-8 years: prediction from longitudinal data from infancy to 6 years
Article Abstract:
Seven year old boys with temperament and behavior difficulties, poor mother-child relationship, low educational stimulation, and social disadvantage are more susceptible to developing behavioral problems (BPs). These boys later develop reading disabilities (RDs). Girls are more likely to develop RDs, especially those with low educational stimulation. A longitudinal study using data from infancy to six years, from the Australian Temperament Project, shows the existence of factors common to the development of RDs and BPs.
