Responder behavior in ultimatum offer games with incomplete information
Article Abstract:
Ultimatum offer games with incomplete information wherein a chance move determines a monetary amount which has to be distributed among players, referred to as proposer and responder, are analyzed. The analysis focuses on responder decisions on two distinct levels, namely by pointing out quite precisely formulated regularities regarding overall behavior and by outlining a rough theory based on what some subjects have in common and others do not. The importance of social motivations including absolute and relative money, equality, revenge, self-esteem, malevolence and avoidance of potentially unfair punishment is discussed.
