Savings and investment decisions within private households: spouses' dominance in decisions on various forms of investment
Article Abstract:
Spouses' relative dominance in decisions regarding various forms of investment was investigated through a questionnaire completed by 142 Austrian couples. Results showed that wives seemed to adapt to the dominance exerted by their husbands in savings and investment decisions. Wives' dominance was highest in egalitarian partnerships, where autonomic and wife-dominated decisions were more frequent than in traditional partnerships. Also, spouses' relative expertise in relation to the investments in question revealed strong effects on dominance distribution.

Studying economic decisions within private households: a critical review and design for a 'couple experiences diary.'(Household and Individual Economic Psychology)
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of economic decisions within private households are investigated using the 'couple experiences diary' technique. This research approach allows a more detailed examination of economic decisions at home by documenting everyday routines in full, or at least those decision processes that result in a specific economic decision. In addition to the diary, the study uses tests to quantify relationship quality and power differences between married couples.

Spouses' joint purchase decisions: determinants of influence tactics for muddling through the process
Article Abstract:
An analysis of factors affecting influence tactics used in spouses' joint purchase decisions shows that the most commonly used influence tactics are bargaining, reasoning, overt display of one's wishes and indirect coalition making. The choice of the right influence tactics is dependent on the type of conflict, gender and relationship characteristics, and the personality of the spouses has little effect.
