Rules, otherwise known as contingency specifying stimuli, must be considered in any analysis of behavior in organizational setting. Rules are a function of control of behavior and are indirect-acting contingencies. The source of rules should also be considered. The nature of rules must be explored as well as their effects on performance. Afunctional definition of rules must be formulated for use in research in organizational behavioral management.
