Self-handicapping, expected evaluation, and performance: accentuating the positive and attenuating the negative
Article Abstract:
The impact of social- and self-evaluative motives on self-handicapping and performance is analyzed. Results show that the prospect of a positive or negative evaluation improved the performance of self-handicapped subjects while social- and self-evaluation subjects exhibited better performance following the imposition of a handicap. High self-handicapers also showed improved performance when a positive or negative evaluation was expected.

Properties of trust: an analytical view
Article Abstract:
The trust construct is formally modelled, resulting in the derivation of seven properties of trust. Study results support some accepted views on trust and shed light on some of trust's interesting properties. For example, the premise that willing transactions require an element of trust is supported. It is demonstrated that, through its affect on two major threats to cooperation, greed and fear, trust supports cooperation.

A cybernetic model of impression management processes in organizations
Article Abstract:
A cybernetic model of organizational impression-management is presented. The model's cybernetic framework allows the integration of content areas, such as impression management, script processing and communication theory, that in the past have been interrelated only implicitly. The model gives a systemic perspective to impression management and considers self-presentation from a behavioral and motivational perspective.
