Semantic networks in the divided cerebral hemispheres
Article Abstract:
A study of effect of stimuli to subjects to explain the hemispheric variation in meaning recognition and manipulation shows that the hemisphere's networks are of comparable size and makeup but are differently organized. Hemispheric differences and their data non-correlation results show semantic organization resembles perceptual organization. Typically, the right hemisphere specializes in conventional meaning while the left hemisphere specializes for detecting and processing deviations from standard meanings.

Time course of activating brain areas in generating verbal associations
Article Abstract:
Certain areas of the brain are activated when persons generate a use for visual words. Frontal attention areas are initially activated at 170 ms, followed by a left lateral frontal area at 250 ms, and finally a left temporoparietal or Wernicke's area at 650 ms. Interestingly, Wernicke's area at the right hemisphere is activated in addition to the original activations when the subjects are made to generate novel uses to practiced words.

Toward a veridical interpretation of right-hemisphere processing and storage
Article Abstract:
Hemisphere differences in memory are not caused by the interpretive processing of information versus veridical memory storage, contrary to the findings of J. Metcalfe, M. Funnell and M.S. Gazzaniga. The three researchers focused on data from just one split-brain patient, and incorrectly used semantic priming examples to support their claim that left-hemisphere information processing is less literal than that of the right-hemisphere.
