Sensation seeking - disinhibition and alcohol use; exploring issues of criterion contamination
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the factor structure and predictive validity of the Disinhibition subscale of the Sensation Seeking Scales (DIS) with drinking in college students. A 3-factor model was found to best fit the DIS, and prediction of drinking by these factors varied based on their intrinsic levels of alcohol relatedness. Therefore, the relationship between alcohol abuse risk and the DIS may need reconsideration. Clinical and psychometric implications of the variation in the factor structure of the DIS between light and heavy drinkers are discussed.

A confirmatory test of hierarchical expectancy structure and predictive power: discriminant validation of the Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire
Article Abstract:
Hierarchical models of confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine the structure of the Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire. Data from the initial assessment of 446 first-year college students and from one-year follow-up assessment of participants were analyzed to predict alcohol use. Findings confirmed that a hierarchical model is a reliable measure of alcohol expectancy structure.

Alcohol expectancy multiaxial assessment: a memory network-based approach
Article Abstract:
An expectancy assessment approach built on a conceptualization of expectancy as an information-processing network is presented. It is argued that this approach permits a relatively through assessment of the broad range of potential expectancy dimensions in a format that is very flexible in terms of instrument length and specificity versus breadth of focus.
