Sense and structure: meaning as a determinant of verb subcategorization preferences
Article Abstract:
The probabilistic nature of language knowledge and the theory that processing phenomena can be described in relation to probabilistic constraints is examined. Corpus analyses were used to identify verbs that occur with a direct object (DO) and a sentential complement (SC) and it was concluded that readers use sense-contingent subcategorization preferences during on-line language comprehension.

Attributive and relational processes in nominal combination
Article Abstract:
The process by which people comprehend nominal (noun-noun) combinations is investigated in the light of dual process and relational theories. The data gathered emphasized parallel rather than serial occurrence of the attributive and relational processes, thus, supporting the dual process theory of nominal combination.

Integrating verbs, situation schemas, and thematic role concepts
Article Abstract:
The thematic roles of verbs have been investigated in a series of three experiments. Single-word priming of agents, patients, instruments and locations; single-word priming of features common to a verbs' patients, and modulation by syntactic cues in cross-modal sentence priming are explored.
