Social psychology, unemployment exposure and equilibrium unemployment
Article Abstract:
The relationship between unemployment and social psychological well-being is investigated. It is generally believed that unemployment produces a feeling of helplessness and negativity upon the individual and impairs learning and motivation. It is hypothesized that a substantial number of unemployed would have a negative impact on the productivity of the labor market. A model that accounts for negative influences such as unemployment in the labor market is presented and its implications are explored.
