Sociobiology and human development: arguments and evidence
Article Abstract:
The genetic reductionist approach to human development advocated by the proponents of sociobiology is based on the flawed rationale that the complexity of human behavior can be attributed to a few genetic principles. The principal lines of evidence marshalled by sociobiologists to support their dubious claims rest on their superficial and unscientific use of the genetic concepts of adaptation, homology and heritability. A more accurate interpretation of the influence of genes on human behavior can be found in the dynamic contextual perspective of integrated behavioral development.

Does self-competence predict gender differences in adolescent depression and anxiety?
Article Abstract:
Consistent gender differences in self-competence and emotional adjustment can be identified even in early adolescence, according to research undertaken among 75 young adolescent boys and girls. Gender differences in self-competence were identified before gender differences in emotional adjustment. Gender differences in self-competence could be partly responsible for the development of gender differences in depression and anxiety in early adolescence. However, the results of this research should not be interpreted as implying causality.

Completing the construction of the life span
Article Abstract:
The book 'Multiple Paths of Midlife Development,' by Margie E. Lachman and Jacquelyn Boone James analyzed the life-span perspective of human development. The book examined various stages of gain-loss phenomena across life, including adolescents' growth of identity and role-taking skills. It also examined the developmental concept of equifinality which correlated individualism with different early or initial conditions having the same endpoint.
