Sociotropy, autonomy, and bulimic symptomatology
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the relations of cognitive-personality styles of sociotropy and autonomy with bulimic symptomatology. Results show that despite the association of both sociotropy and autonomy, only the former affects significantly bulimic symptomatomatology as sociotropy controls its depressive symptoms. Thus, this suggests that bulimic patients have a strong need for acceptance and approval.

Plasma concentrations of leptin in a bulimic patient
Article Abstract:
The plasma leptin levels of a patient with bulimia anorexia was monitored for 48 hours to prove whether excessive eating during a binge episode decreases leptin synthesis. Results show that despite the frequency of the binge and purging episodes, the bulimic patient's plasma leptin levels remained stable. This only proves that leptin is unaffected by food intake nor by binge episodes.

Sociotropy and bulimic symptoms in clinical and nonclinical samples
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between bulimic symptoms with sociotropy, a cognitive-personality factor in which social dependency, need for approval, and fear of rejection are symptoms. The authors, assessing two groups of women, conclude sociotropy is significantly related to bulimic symptoms.
