Subclinical eating disorders in adolescent women: a test of the continuity hypothesis and its psychological correlates
Article Abstract:
The Eating Pathology Scale is a valid assessment of subthreshold types of eating disturbances and their psychological correlates, according to research undertaken among 207 female students on introductory psychology courses at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. It seems that the degree of depression, along with disturbances in thinking and eating attitudes, relate to the degree of pathological eating disorder. There was evidence to suggest the presence of a spectrum of disordered eating in college women.

Is caloric restriction associated with development of eating-disorder symptoms? Results from the CALERIE trial
Article Abstract:
The CALERIE trial hypothesizes that a 12-month period of caloric restriction is related to increased symptoms of eating disorders. A test of this hypothesis showed that dietary restriction was associated with negative energy balance and an increase n dietary restraint, but not with an increase in eating disorder symptoms. The psychological and behavioral impacts of caloric restriction are examined further.
