Terrorism and cardiovascular responses to acute stress in children
Article Abstract:
The effects of a potent background stressor with a clear onset, namely the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 are studied. The findings suggests that children with repeated exposure to terrorism or a chronic threat of terrorism might exhibit stable elevations in cardiovascular reactivity to acute stress, which might affect cardiovascular disease risk.
