Testing the investment model of relationship commitment and stability in a longitudinal study of married couples
Article Abstract:
3,627 married couples were studied over 18 months to see how stable and committed the relationship remained, using a measurement of emotional investment to predict results. The study showed that couples where both couples were committed and invested in the relationship were the most stable.

Gender differences in subjective distress to emotional and sexual infidelity: evolutionary or logical inference explanation?
Article Abstract:
91 men and 100 women were asked to explain how they would feel if their romantic partner was either sexually or emotionally unfaithful. Women said they would be more disturbed by emotional infidelity and men were more upset by sexual infidelity.

Infidelity, race, and gender: an evolutionary perspective on asymmetries in subjective distress to violations-of-trust
Article Abstract:
A study of men and women's attitudes towards infidelity showed that both African American and white men were more stressed by sexual infidelity and both African American women and white women were more distress by an emotional betrayal.
