The Spouse Situation Inventory: a role-play measure of coping skills in women with alcoholic partners
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the Spouse Situation Inventory (SSI) could be a good measure of the coping skills of women with alcoholic partners. The SSI demonstrated acceptable levels of reliability and generalizability and could be used to predict relationships with the woman's drinking, coping behaviors related with alcohol and general coping. It also predicted relationships with the problem recognition of the partner in the nontreatment group and the drinking of the partner in the treatment group. The evaluation and development of skill training programs should be influenced by the SSI.

Profiles of the alcohol use inventory: a large sample cluster analysis conducted with split-sample replication rules
Article Abstract:
A cluster analysis of the 15 nonmarital alcohol use inventory (AUI) primary scales in a large sample of indiividuals with alcoholism drawn from inpatient and outpatient treatment settings was conducted. Subjects included 1,460 clients, 76% of whom were men, recruited from nine sites across the US. Results indicate that limiting the stopping rule to perfect replication may obscure additional, and potentially and clinically important differences among individuals.
