Categorical models of childhood disorder: a conceptual and empirical analysis
Article Abstract:
The clinical and scientific status of categorical models of childhood disorder were used to validate the practical origins of standardized category-based diagnostic schemes and the impact that these systems have on the science of child psychopathology. The study reveals that these assumptions underpin the dominant paradigm in child psychopathology. Neither do they constrain empirical study and theory development.

Behavior problems and mental health contacts in adopted, foster, and nonadopted children
Article Abstract:
Research has revealed that contrary to predictions, foster children do not tend to suffer from behavioural problems more than non-adopted children. Adopted children were also found to have similar behavioural problem scores as non-adopted children. The study revealed that adoptive parents sought mental health services for behavioural problems at an earlier stage than non-adoptive parents.
