The development and temporal dynamics of spatial orienting in infants
Article Abstract:
Temporal variation in cue-target intervals affects spatial orienting ability in developing infants. Four month old infants show both facilitation and inhibition of responses to a cued location when targets appear 200 and 700 ms after the cue onset, respectively. Two month old infants show a weak effect of cues, and six month old infants show only inhibition of responses. Infants' ability to shift attention to a spatial location increases with age.

Infants perceiving and acting on the eyes: tests of an evolutionary hypothesis
Article Abstract:
Eye gaze cueing in infants was studied with a view to determining whether it is the result of a domain-specific module such as EDD (Eye Detection Detector) or whether more domain-general processes are involved during infancy. The perceived direction of motion of pupils following a period of direct mutual gaze, which enabled infants to orient to cued target locations, was observed.
