The effectiveness of partial information about attribute weights for ranking alternatives in multiattribute decision making
Article Abstract:
A study finds that for small decision-making problems, it may be sufficient for the analyst to make use of rank-order information about attribute weights (if the problem alternatives, attributes and allowed attribute levels each number under 10). Somewhat larger problems can be handled if partial weighting information is known, allowing identification of the most preferred alternative. A procedure is presented to determine whether or not the partial information is sufficient to avoid errors in alternative specification.

Numerical vs cardinal measurements in multiattribute decision making: how exact is enough?
Article Abstract:
The performance of the DECAID and LOGICAL DECISION (LD) decision support systems in evaluating multiattribute alternatives are studied. The accuracy of results were determined based on comparisons with values obtained using the ZAPROS decision support system. It is shown that ordinal relationships between task parameters have greater stability than those obtained from quantitative measures. Values from DECAID and LD are also less coincident with each other compared to values obtained using ZAPROS.

Conflict and loss aversion in multiattribute choice: the effects of trade-off size and reference dependence on decision difficulty
Article Abstract:
The effects of trade-off size and reference states on the difficulty of multiattribute decision making are studied. Results show that trade-off size increases decision difficulty while superior and inferior reference states make decisions harder and easier, respectively. Loss aversion and the problem of deciding whether or not reference states are part of a person's endowment also exacerbate the effects of the reference dependence of decision difficulty.
