The future of treatment research in anorexia nervosa
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to understand the prospects for treatment research, considering the formidable challenges that lie ahead for the design, implementation, and interpretation of controlled clinical trials, and highlighting opportunities for effectiveness studies. Considering the increasing evidence of the role played by biologic susceptibility factors in anorexia nervosa, the potential contribution to the treatment research of advances in pharmacogenetics and molecular neuroscience is discussed.

The long-term course of severe anorexia nervosa in adolescents: survival analysis of recovery, relapse, and outcome predictors over 10-15 years in a prospective study
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to evaluate anorexia nervosa among adolescents, particularly the long-term recovery and relapse of this type of patients. Semiannual and annual data from 95 patients admitted at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute are utilized. Results show that almost a third of the discharged patients experienced a relapse before clinical recovery. Several variables that influence binge eating and chronic outcome are also assessed.

Pathologic fear conditioning and Anorexia Nervosa: on the search for novel paradigms
Article Abstract:
Anorexia Nervosa, which is a complex distortion of human condition and stark reality, is a mechanism involving a propensity to extreme fear conditioning and greater than normal resistance to its extinction. Using objective measures of classical fear conditioning and functional neuroimaging of brain structures, mediating fear behavior pathogens of anorexia nervosa are subject to experimental validation.
