The impact of postnatal depression on boys' intellectual development
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to determine if postpartum depression of mothers has any effect on the intellectual development of their sons. It is participated in by 170 mothers, 99 fathers, 172 boys aged three years and 10 months. The results show that the standardized intelligence test scores of sons of those mothers who experienced postnatal depression in the first year are lower by around one standard deviation than the scores of boys whose mothers did not suffer from postpartum depression.

Parents' judgements about young children's problems: Why mothers and fathers might disagree yet still predict later outcomes
Article Abstract:
A study into the rating of behavioural problems by parents revealed differences in reporting between the mother and father. The study, which included 93 families in the UK, revealed that fathers tended to report problems associated with cognitive ability, while reporting by mothers was directly influenced by her perception of her marriage and her own mental condition.
