The prevalence and associations of psychiatric disorder in children in Kerala, South India
Article Abstract:
The prevalence of psychiatric disorder in children aged between eight and 12 in Calicut District, Kerala, India, is towards the lower end of the range of prevalence indicated in studies undertaken in other parts of the world. No evidence was found of any link between psychiatric disorder and height or body mass index. There was also no evidence that obstetric problems play a role in subsequent psychiatric disorder. There was found to be a link between externalizing disorder and adverse social conditions reflected in the poverty score and lower social class.

The adjustment of children with divorced parents: a risk and resiliency perspective
Article Abstract:
Recent research into the adjustment of children in divorced families indicates that many children encounter difficulties in the months immediately following parental divorce, irrespective of their circumstances. However, most children eventually come to terms with their parents' divorce. The effects of stress on children as a result of parental divorce can be limited through maintaining authoritative parenting and reducing conflict.
