The relation of family functioning to violence among inner-city minority youths
Article Abstract:
Family relationship characteristics and parenting behavior have an association with delinquency in adolescents which is similar across ethnic groups. These relationships are examined for inner city residents of African American and Latino adolescent boys. They are distributed in three groups, non-offenders, nonviolent offenders, and violent offenders. The families of the violent offenders group have a history of less discipline, weak family bonding and less interaction as compared to the other groups.
