The role of pretense and language in the development of self
Article Abstract:
The article of Ingrid Josephs on the grave and death as symbols in self-development contributed to the understanding of developmental psychology. She argued that communication with the deceased through dialogue was significant since people conversing with deceased in cemeteries contributed to their existence. She described that the dialogue between the dead and adults was similar to the activity of a child involved in a pretend play although there were significant differences between the two interactions.

Narrative, play, and development
Article Abstract:
The article of Ingrid Josephs related an elderly's conversations with deceased loved ones to play, development and imagination. However, the article presented several flaws related to the subject of development. There were faults in data collection since the sample population considered did not represent a broad area of study. Another concern is the personal account of a participant in terms of textual level in contrast to the concept of narrative as a mediator between three kinds of life experiences.
