Treatment utility of the sociotropy/autonomy distinction: implications for cognitive therapy
Article Abstract:
A study of the treatment utility of sociotropy/autonomy scales by matching or mismatching subjects to individual or group cognitive therapy on the basis of their dominant personality dimensions showed a higher number of matched subjects exhibiting high improvement from depression. Beck proposed that sociotropy/autonomy interact with treatment variables. Several measures must be taken to avoid floor effects.
