Validation of depression and anxiety measures in White and Black youths: multitrait-multimethod analyses
Article Abstract:
Depression symptoms, anxiety symptoms and social acceptance data were gathered in a sample of African American and Caucasian school children from yearly self-reports, peer nomination and teacher rating assessments. Analyses showed that the measures were valid in both ethnic groups. However, bias was found in the peer nomination measures of depression and anxiety symptoms, leading to the underestimation of psychopathology in African American children and adolescents.

Structure and validity of parent and teacher perceptions of children's competence: a multitrait-multimethod-multigroup investigation
Article Abstract:
The five domains of competence were examined in 3rd- and 6th-grade children using the Rating Scale of Children's Actual Behavior for parents and teachers. Five factors were revealed in both the teacher and parent scales which include Academic Competence, Social Acceptance, Athletic Competence, Physical Appearance and Behavioral Conduct. A high degree of discriminant validity was manifested by all five subscales of the teacher and parent scales.
