WISC-III subtest scatter as a function of highest subtest scaled score
Article Abstract:
The frequency of occurrence for relative subtest scatter ranges for the Verbal, Performance and Full scales was determined by analyzing the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-III (WISC-III) standardization data. The WISC-III standardization sample was composed of 2,200 children of five demographic variables between the ages of six and 16 years. Results of the frequencies of occurrence based on the lowest subtest scaled scores classified by the highest subtest scaled score are presented.

Estimation of WAIS-R premorbid intelligence: current ability and demographic data used in a best-performance fashion
Article Abstract:
The BEST methods based on regression equations are more reliable in predicting premorbid IQ in neurologic patients than the Barona et al method based on demographic information. Two studies show that these two methods overestimate WAIS-R premorbid intelligence by 9 and 5 points, respectively. The BEST-3 approach which uses the three most robust equations is superior to the BEST-11 approach based on the Vanderploeg and Schinka equations in predicting group membership.

WISC-III premorbid prediction strategies: demographic and best performance approaches
Article Abstract:
Premorbid prediction strategies for use with children were investigated by using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition. In addition, the BEST-2 approach and the pure demographic approach, which includes variables such as parental education, occupation and ethnicity, were analyzed in a sample of brain-injured children. Findings indicated the validity of both approaches in estimating the premorbid functioning in children.
