GraphMaster 1.32 and Cricket Graph III, DeltaGraph Professional; a trio of number-crunching graphing programs offers technical charts for the most complicated data
Article Abstract:
A review and comparison of three programs for graphing numerical data concludes that DeltaGraph Professional, $495 Windows and $295 Macintosh versions, from DeltaPoint Inc is the best software package because of its superior graphics display and presentation features. The other two programs are the $195 GraphMaster 1.32 from Visual Business Systems Inc and $195 Cricket Graph III from Computer Associates International Inc. All three programs offer more mathematical functions and better graphing capabilities than those included in almost all presentation and spreadsheet programs. DeltaGraph Pro is the only cross-platform product, offers the most complete import and export options and is the only one that can create spider charts. GraphMaster is the only program that enables the creation of pictograms. Cricket Graph III contains the most robust set of statistical functions.

Smoothie
Article Abstract:
Peirce Software's $149 Smoothie image processing software for the Macintosh allows users to sharpen vector graphics or text on screen. The program scales up an image or text 16 times, rasterizes it, averages the pixels and rescales the image to its original size. It can import images from PICT, Clipboard or Scrapbook and export them in PICT, Clipboard or single-frame QuickTime format. It can also batch process images and convert them to several different formats, including a Smoothie Slideshow. Users must import results individually into PowerPoint or Persuasion. Users can easily send Slideshow's stand-alone files because they can run without Smoothie. There is no difficulty with fonts during playback because all type is bit-mapped.
