Bright flames of the phoenix
Article Abstract:
The Royal College of Art's reputation for art and design was reestablished under the leadership of Robin Darwin. The school has produced a bountiful crop of graphic artists over the years, including Peter Blake Ra, who did the cover for the Beatles' St. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band album; Peter Silk, who designed bottles for Boots Drugstore, and Arnold Machin, who produced stamps for the Royal Mail. The school has had the difficult challenge of balancing core fine arts disciplines with cutting-edge innovation over the years.
