Telling the whole color story
Article Abstract:
Now spectral data can be captured with a spectrophotometer. This instrument splits incoming light into its distinctive spectral signature. What was once a $100,000 piece of equipment can now be purchased for $3000. A functional entry level machine is available for even less. With this equipment, anyone can capture a color precisely of any object; a proof, a print sample, swatch, ceramic tile, paint chip, ink drop or anything else. Spectrophotometers are now the standard tool for creating International Color Consortium profile for printer, proofers and presses. Color can now be tracked throughout the design and production processes and mapped to any output medium.

No-frills word processing
Article Abstract:
Write Now 1.0, from T-Maker, is a word processing program that offers rudimentary graphics integration and page layout with multiple columns. The program does not, in the current version, export files to Pagemaker 1.2, Ready Set Go 3, Macpublisher, Microsoft Word, or Macwrite, though the capability to do so is said to be under development. The program has limited capabilities and is best suited to straightforward word processing tasks. At $175, the program is not expensive, but there will be competition from other new Macintosh word processors.
