Article Abstract:
The 'ISN Notebook,' of an apparel industry trade magazine, Bobbin, is redesigned. The problem is to increase the section's readability while remaining consistent with the publications's overall conservative design. To accomplish this, typographic problems are resolved, a page design is developed and images are rearranged. 'Before' and 'After' illustrations are included. The hardware used includes a Macintosh IIfx microcomputer with 8Mbytes of system memory and an Apple Scanner, from Apple Computer Inc. Software is identified as QuarkXPress, from Quark Inc. Fonts used are Minion and Helvetica Condensed (downloadable), from Adobe Systems Inc.

A sure-sell design for an advertising flier
Article Abstract:
A flier from the Warren Group, which advertises a 'body heater', is critiqued and made over. The original layout, crowded and uninviting, is redone to increase appeal and visual impact. Reasons for changes are described and detailed in a 'Before and After' format.
