Eclectic menagerie: The Society of Illustrators 34th Annual Exhibition
Article Abstract:
Over 450 illustrations in the categories of advertising, books, editorial and institutional were exhibited at the Museum of American Illustration in New York, NY. A wide variety of styles in the graphic arts were represented, and some unusual techniques could be viewed. Artists whose works were shown included Scott Guftasson, Hiro Kimura, Braldt Bralds, Paul Davis, John Jude Palencar, Joel Peter Johnson and John Mattos. Technology, sexuality and animals were popular themes.

Kozue Naito and the cloth menagerie
Article Abstract:
Costume artist Kozue Naito started as an illustrator but felt unfulfilled. She has received wide acclaim for her work since the mid-1980s. She has had five solo exhibitions, numerous displays in magazines and advertising layouts and provided clothing for television, the theater and concerts. Her motifs are from nature and she shops for her own materials.

A selection from the Tokyo Type Directors Club Annual Awards 2002
Article Abstract:
A short selection of the 2002 Tokyo Type Directors Club (TDC) award winners is presented, and TDC-selected works rank among the international best in typography. This is because TDC has the unique disposition to honor challenging experimental work, in addition to the more staple commercial work.
