Exploring factors affecting Chinese readers' decisions on purchasing: American shelter titles in China
Article Abstract:
The different factors that influence Chinese readers' decision on purchasing the shelter magazines that are licensed or franchised from American titles are described. The AASM (attitude towards shelter titles publishes by American publishers) model should be revised so that the promotion can be added as one antecedent and coverage credibility can probably be removed from the model.

Approximately 8,000 periodicals are published yearly in China, half of which are scientific or technical and half for the social science or consumer markets. Emerging trends in Chinese periodicals are probable consolidation, movement toward higher product quality and professional emphasis, and increasing use of digital technology.

Approximately 1,500 publishing companies have websites, bookstores are also offering this service, and content is being sold through digital stores, sometimes as print-on-demand copies.
