Form swallows function: Borek Sipek
Article Abstract:
Czechoslovakian-born architect and designer Borek Sipek now works in Amsterdam, where he has a small firm. He thinks of himself primarily as an architect, although much of his work is in furniture and tableware design. He is also artistic director for a Czechoslovakian glass factory and showroom. Sipek favors form over function. In fact, he states that, while he may approach a new work rationally, eventually emotion is all that is left. Photographs of some of Sipek's designs are shown.
