The ordinary that surprises: Issey Miyake
Article Abstract:
Issey Miyake is a fashion designer who has also exhibited at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He has also worked with choreographer William Forsythe as a costume designer for Forsythe's 'The Loss of the Small Detail.' He states that his designs are not unusual, but instead intended to enhance the ordinary. Photographs of Miyake's designs, taken by Irving Penn, are shown.

Ikko Tanaka: once in a lifetime
Article Abstract:
Poster artist Ikko Tanaka has designed posters for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, designed posters for the Seibu theater in 1973 and became the creative director for the Seibu Group in 1975. Tanaka focuses on typography and takes an art director's approach toward illustration.
