The proof's in the priner
Article Abstract:
High quality color print production is possible with the multitude of color dye-sublimation printers on the market. The printers are desirable because they generate near-photographic output, and they are good choices for users who want to generate intermediate proofs, still images of presentations and multimedia productions and overhead transparencies. Both non-PostScript and PostScript models are available. Factors to consider when selecting a dye sublimation printer include proofing, resolution and speed. Currently, dye sublimation printers generate prints that are priced at around $3 or $4 per page for printing full-bleed letter-size four-color pages. Tabloid-sized pages are priced around $7 or $8. The models, themselves, are priced between around $7,000 up to $16,995.

Buyer's guide: wide-format printers
Article Abstract:
Wide-format printers are essential tools for printing large tradeshow displays, billboards, point-of-sale promotion and proofing poster-size documents. These printers range from 35 inches to over 71 inches and are priced from $6,000 to $50,000. Most of these printers accept continuous rolls as well as large sheets of paper. With enough RAM in the raster image process it is possible to print an image twenty feet long. Most models offer four-color CMYK printing, although many have extra printheads for adding more colors. Printers with more printheads tend to print faster than those with just one.
