Amidst the recent wave of violent journalistic deaths in Russia such as gang-style shooting and fatal stabbing of the editors, subtler forms of pressure on the media go unpunished. For years, media in Russian and other countries from the former Soviet bloc have been suffering an ominously covert form of political blackmail.

Georgian 60 Minutes saved

The nation of Georgia has a television program called '60 Minutes' which is similar to the program of the same name in the US. Georgian television journalist Akaki Gogichaishvili, who operates the program, had a journalism fellowship in the US.
