A war of words
Article Abstract:
The review of the Middle East today, a war of words is spurring much of the conflict, in the hype of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the line between reality and propaganda can easily confuse the most objective foreign correspondent. The constant deadlines, sometimes severe space restriction and the pressure to produce dramatic stories and the result is often a worldview slanted against Israel as the journalist look at their work as a professional pride and not personal prejudice.

The winding Road: Journalists struggle for press reform in China
Article Abstract:
Although official policy and national journalism textbooks still view the media as a mouthpiece for the government, in practice the situation is changed dramatically. General Press and Publication Administration work plan for the decade started in 2000 stated that the government will establish journalism and publishing laws before 2010, which is a means to pacify the growing demands of legislators and scholars.

Silencing the press in Uzbekistan
Article Abstract:
The difficulties faced by the director of the Central Asia region of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting with regard to press freedom and the refusal of press accreditation by the Uzbek foreign ministry for foreign correspondents is illustrated. The present situation of press freedom in Uzbekistan seems to be closing in on the already difficult working environment.
