Strong foundations
Article Abstract:
The design of a periodical lays the foundation for future issues, eliminating the need to redesign each issue and providing consistency from issue to issue. When using Ventura, the first step is to set up the elements that appear on each page. The second step is to set style tags and file names. Step three is to add new frames with different specifications to vary the basic grid. Step four is to deal with any LaserJet variations. When using PageMaker, the first step is to set the specifications for the master pages. Step two is to set up the cover page and define formatted text as a style. Step three is to use the Pasteboard for extra items.
