The next wave: Scott Mednick
Article Abstract:
Scott Mednick, founder of the Los Angeles, CA, design firm, The Mednick Group, refuses to design for any company that is involved with anything that might harm people or the environment, including tobacco, alcoholic-beverage and firearms companies. He will, however, work with some companies that are making an effort to change, such as McDonald's Corp. Nonetheless, the Mednick Group, with 80 employees, is the largest independent design firm on the West Coast. Mednick saw a need for true creativity that was not being met by traditional advertising agencies and has aggressively sought after companies that share his philosophy.

Jack Summerford: Designer
Article Abstract:
Jack Summerford is an elegant idea-directed classical designer also famous for his Helvetica T-shirt that epitomizes everything typical of his design such as humor, elegance, simplicity and his obvious approach. He believes that the design industry is going through an identity crisis, as designers have become generalists by necessity, with design being only one of a far greater number of tasks that they are responsible for.
