Media trials and tribulations in the Gambia
Article Abstract:
A journalist's account of a series of events that were faced by a private newspaper to project an objective and honest view of the happenings in Gambia are portrayed. It resulted in arson attacks, arbitrary arrests and physical violence to silence the brave voices of the Gambians searching for justice and good governance, but for every journalist who is murdered there would be four more prepared to stand up to the criminals.

Article Abstract:
Allegations surrounding President Bush's National Guard service and CBS News report on the alleged scandal are investigated and it is found that most journalists writing about scandal had taken their cues from the blogoshphere. The power of blogs is proportional to the attention paid to them, even a blog with a million readers doesn't constitute a force it constitutes one million people sitting in front of their computers.
