Who's in charge?
Article Abstract:
Large corporations adopt desktop publishing (DTP); established publishing methods change as document production moves out into departments. Desktop publishing often poses new and unique problems: new equipment is purchased; new lines of organizational structure are established; and job descriptions change. Though cost-effectiveness often improves as DTP impacts a corporation, issues are raised that involve security, quality, and productivity. Four corporations that are becoming involved in DTP are considered: Hughes Aircraft; Ernst & Whinney; Caterpillar; and Walt Disney World.
