A campaigner's lot
Article Abstract:
Communication in English should be simple, brief and unpretentious. There are different view as to which grammatical rules to follow, and some scholars argue that we should focus on communciation rather than be concerned about split infinitives and the like. This is the view of Bill Bryson, who has written on the subject. Martin Cutts is a campaigner for clear English, and he stresses usage of the active rather than the passive voice, and the merits of short sentences.
