Valuing the MOD's asset base
Article Abstract:
The valuation of Britain's Ministry of Defence assets is required following the government's new legislation entitled Resource Accounting and Budgeting. Assets need to be assessed according to defined rules, taking in to account their use, expected lifespan, accounting record and risk management. A number of items are classified in an example table. Offices and land are identified as being non-specific assets. Training land and ammunition depots are defined as specific assets.

Landlords can bill for repairs
Article Abstract:
British landlords have to overcome difficult legal obstacles to obtain damages from their tenants for repair of their property despite the fact that many landlords believe that this task is straightforward. Landlords are becoming more cautious of problems such as these and are ensuring that they have the right to serve notice as soon as the damage is recorded even if a long commercial lease has been agreed.
