Article Abstract:
Some industry observers suggest UK hotel operators should be looking to the rest of Europe for their expansion plans. Hotels in Europe are less costly than in the UK due to the strength of the pound and operators can benefit from the low Euro interest rates. An understanding of the country and its culture is vital for any hospitality operator looking to expand overseas. Some observers point out the German and French hotel markets have yet to mature. Some of the large operators, such as Bass PLC, have already moved into Europe.
