Squeeze in the middle
Article Abstract:
Nottingham's city council believes that extra car parking charges and car-parking restrictions will raise money and improve the city centre, but real estate agents predict that the plans will stifle development and broaden the gap between city-centre and out-of-town markets. Richard Sutton of Nattrass Giles says that development will be forced out of Nottingham and major occupiers may leave.

Emergency stop?
Article Abstract:
Many property experts in the City, London, England, predict a deceleration in demand for office space but are sure the demand for space will continue. Some observers point out a number of companies are looking to stay profitable by merging and therefore will be looking for new space. Others predict rents may not increase very rapidly but shortage of good property is likely to keep them from falling. Few speculative schemes are going ahead despite demand. Some agents suggest good quality offices will be in shorter supply by 2000. Rents for 1998 are about 52.50 pounds sterling per sq ft.
