All the freight moves
Article Abstract:
Some observers suggest the authorities at Manchester Airport, England, seem to be reluctant to accept partial responsibility for developing the 2 million sq ft of space around the airport. Others point out the air freight business is likely to increase rapidly as the airport increases its facilities. Industries linked to the airport are usually located no more than 20 minutes away from the airport. Officials at the airport deny they do not want two new business parks built in the vicinity of the airport but their concern is for the increasing traffic congestion in the area.

Reach for new concepts
Article Abstract:
The airport authorities are making plans to replace duty free shopping which has been abolished in the European Union. Some high street stores plan to keep their shops in airports open. The Corporate Intelligence Group suggest some airports will pay the additional tax in order to maintain sales. Whilst others will choose to replace space previously reserved for selling alcohol and tobacco with a wider range of products. BAA plan to introduce a points scheme for passengers. BAA received 64% of its revenue in 1998-999 from duty and tax free shopping.
